*** - Certainly good but comes with slight suicidal tendancies

This is Jim's 2nd installment in the Dresden Files, the tales of Harry Dresden Wizard for hire. You might guess from the clever title of this book that this part of the story deals with werewolves, and you'd be right. Dresden once again finds himself put up against insurmountable odds with not only his life on the line, but also that of his cop friend Karen who has come to suspect him as the murder stalking the town mocking up werewolf kills. If that isn't enough angst, then read on as Butcher only pours more and more on until you think you (nor Harry could) stand it anymore.

Why do I keep reading these? They're so addictive and so horribly depressing! The characters (all but his cop friend) are all well shaped and interesting to follow down their paths, and you just really want them to survive and have a sunshine ending. So you keep turning the page and crossing your fingers. I guess every addiction doesn't have to be good for you. ;) I just hope that Jim does something with Karen soon (change her, kill her, get her mopey untrusting ass out of the story) as she kills my will to live faster than any monsters besetting Harry ever could. Yes I'll pick up the next book, but if things don't get a bit cheerier and/or Karen doesn't get an attitude adjustment I probably won't be picking up the 4th book.
